Lebanese merchant praises quality of Iranian plastic products

An official at a Lebanese trading company expressed satisfaction with the quality of Iranian plastic products and voiced interest in maintaining long-term cooperation with Iranian manufacturers.

Speaking on the sidelines of IranPlast 2025, General Manager of Hutco Company, Abbas El Husseini, said his firm has been active in the plastic industry since 1982, describing it as a family business passed down from his father and grandfather.

Hutco specializes in trading plastic products and imports a wide range of items from countries such as Syria, Turkey, Jordan, and China, he added.

“This is not my first time visiting IranPlast. I visited the event two years ago as well. The exhibition still offers valuable opportunities for commercial partnerships,” El Husseini noted.

He said that since his last visit to IranPlast, Hutco has established cooperation with several Iranian companies and imported numerous products to Lebanon.

“These collaborations are ongoing, and I am satisfied with the quality of Iranian goods,” he emphasized.

El Husseini also commented on product design and color preferences, noting, “Iranian manufacturers tend to use colors like red, pink, and yellow which suit markets such as Iraq. However, consumer preferences in Lebanon are more aligned with Turkish and European styles.”

He mentioned that he had negotiated with some Iranian companies about custom color designs and submitted requests for tailored production, though he acknowledged that the process takes time.

Regarding the future of cooperation, El Husseini expressed optimism but stressed the need to address key challenges such as high transportation costs from Iran to Lebanon and customs tariffs.

“Imports of raw materials and finished goods from Arab countries are subject to lower taxes, while Iranian products face higher tariffs which affects their competitiveness in the Lebanese market,” he explained.

He concluded by saying that Hutco is currently in talks with Lebanese officials to resolve these issues, saying, “We hope to pave the way for enhanced cooperation with Iran.”

Iran’s 19th International Exhibition of Raw Material, Plastics, Rubber, Machinery and Equipment, known as IranPlast 2025, kicked off on September 8 in Tehran and will run to September 11.
