The head of the union of importers and exporters in the Kurdistan region said Iranian plastic raw materials play a strategic role in trade between the two countries, saying high quality products are a priority.

Speaking on the sidelines of IranPlast 2025, Sheikh Mustafa Abdulrahman said, “Economic cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Iran has a long-standing history. In recent years, we’ve consistently used IranPlast as a platform to expand our partnerships in the plastics sector.”

He added that a delegation of 35 businessmen and managers from polymer and plastics companies in Kurdistan region, along with heads of the export-import unions of Kirkuk and Halabja, attended this year’s exhibition to explore collaboration opportunities with Iranian firms.

Abdulrahman noted that Iran-Kurdistan region trade volume currently stands at $6 billion, with plastic raw materials playing a key role.

“We are actively seeking high-quality Iranian products to meet our industrial needs,” he said.

Commenting on IranPlast 2025, he observed a notable increase in the number of participants and the diversity of showcased goods.

“This year, IranPlast features more exhibitors and a broader range of high-quality goods compared to previous editions,” he said.
