A senior official from ADY Express, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways, said there is significant potential for expanding transit cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan in petrochemical sector.
Baba Abbasov, the leading specialist at Business Development and Marketing Unit at ADY Express, made the remark while visiting IranPlast 2025, stating his visit aimed to engage with Iranian producers of petrochemical, chemical, and polymer products.
“This is my first time visiting IranPlast. Our goal is to establish connections with Iranian manufacturers and explore opportunities for regional partnerships,” he said.
He noted that ADY Express, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways, provides international rail freight services via Azerbaijan and emphasized that Iran’s industrial output, particularly in petrochemicals, offers promising prospects for transit collaboration.
Abbasov highlighted International North–South Transport Corridor as a key regional route for moving industrial goods from Iran to northern markets, adding, “We are fully prepared to offer rail transport services to Iranian producers along this corridor.”
Expressing satisfaction with IranPlast, Abbasov said the exhibition have created an appropriate environment for commercial dialogue.
“On the first day, we held several effective meetings with companies and initiated preliminary discussions on cooperation,” he added.
He underscored the role of transportation in petrochemical supply chain, noting that manufacturers require efficient transport solutions to expand their exports.
“As trade volumes grow between producers and clients, demand for freight services will rise; and we are ready to meet that demand,” Abbasov said.
He concluded ADY Express welcomes rail transport partnerships with Iranian firms and expressed hope that such cooperation would contribute to the growth of regional trade.
Iran’s 19th International Exhibition of Raw Material, Plastics, Rubber, Machinery and Equipment, known as IranPlast 2025, kicked off on September 8 in Tehran and will run to September 11.
